tension
Tension exists everywhere. This tension can be formal, such as a balance between opposing elements or forces, or conceptual, such as a circumstance that suggests a state of mental or emotional strain. Precarious balance, defiance of gravity, asymmetry, two elements about to touch, a form at the moment of collapse—each of these situations evokes suspense or anxiety.
